The elderly and patients with NCDs at potentially higher risk of infection and fatality due to COVID-19. Strengthening the role and competency of primary care to ensure the delivery of safe and effective examination and treatment for those population as well as protect them from the COVID-19 pandemic is one of the most crucial strategies of health system in response to COVID-19 pandemic.

The course aims to present an overview of the impact of COVID-19 on NCDs and discuss some policy interventions to strengthen the NCD response during the COVID-19 pandemic; update and provide professional knowledge on the diagnosis and initial treatment of some common cardiovascular diseases; manage and monitor of hypertensive patients at the grassroots level in the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as understand more on the issue of COVID-19 vaccines for some at-risk groups and people with pre-existing medical conditions.
